Review
What the Company says:
“The Skin Culture Peels are six-day treatments that help rejuvenate the skin surface. They create an even and controlled shedding of several layers of skin cells. This allows new layers to be exposed and creates a fresh appearance to the skin surface. In addition, new cells and collagen are stimulated, creating a more even skin tone.
During the 6 days the exclusive and safe formula of the Skin Culture Peel removes the dead skin. On the first day there is a warm sensation and the skin will become slightly tanned. On the second day the skin will feel tight and on the third day the skin will take on a healthy robust look, will be darker in colour and slightly wrinkled. On the 4th, 5th and 6th day peeling starts around the eyes and mouth areas and then the chin, cheeks and forehead. Peeling may continue beyond the 6 days and the complexion will continue to look better as old skin is replaced by a new skin that is tighter, smoother and younger looking. Thick or toughened skin may flake rather than peel. You will still receive good results but a second or stronger peeling may be indicated.
The active ingredients in the Skin Culture Peel are Resorcinol and Phenol, which cause the skin to exfoliate. The antiseptic, germicidal and healing properties of Salicylic, Sulfur and Sodium Benzoate are also used in the formula. Plus, the oils of Thyme, Eucalyptus and Wintergreen, which have long been recognised in natural healing science as effective holistic healing agents for many skin problems.
The treatment will not penetrate below the epidermis so does not cause breaking or blistering of the skin. However, there is the possibility of reacting to some of the ingredients in the Skin Peeling treatment as there is with any other skin care treatments. Very rarely will a client have an allergic reaction to the Skin Culture Peel. The symptoms may include itching, swelling, redness, and stinging lasting for a few days. We always advise that you do a patch test for a full 6 days, before doing a full facial treatment. This will help to confirm that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients contained within the product.”
Reviewer’s Comments:
Peel 4000 is the maximum strength and provides the deepest peeling. This is used in Facial System 1, which is the recommended treatment for acne scars.
Progressively better results are obtained if Peel 4000 treatments are applied one month after the other.
Facial System 1 comes in three levels, corresponding to progressively more severe acne scars:
Standard: 1 treatment
Advanced: Initial treatment, plus a follow-up treatment a month later
Ultimate: Initial treatment plus month two and month three treatments
Pros:
- This product has more than 70 years of testimonials – it works. It will deliver a considerable positive change in the texture, composition and feel of your face. The formula was originated and developed by a New York doctor/pharmacist.
- The ingredient list is sound – the level of Phenol is only 2%, which is deliberately very mild so that the product can be safely used at home. Surgeries use up to 88% Phenol, which is very aggressive and needs to be done in controlled conditions. Phenol and the other main ingredient Resorcinol cause the skin to safely exfoliate. I’m pleased to see that there is no Hydroquinone present.
- The peel is safe to use – the treatment will not penetrate below the epidermis, so does not cause breaking or blistering of the skin.
- You’ll know within a week if the results have lived up to your expectations – compared to months of waiting & hoping with most of the topical acne scar creams that promise a lot (and they do work 50% of the time, but so does a placebo).
- If the instructions are followed, it will reduce and remove your dark marks, red spots, rough skin and blocked pores – definitely a self-esteem booster. You can be confident again…no need to hide away. You can transform from dull and uneven skin to a younger, clearer, firmer and glowing complexion.
- Painless – professional peels can involve significant pain. The peel treatment from Skin Culture will be uncomfortable (a deep burning sensation) for about 15 to 20 minutes, and then it will be fine. The more that you feel this sensation, the better will be the results of your skin peel.
- The instructions are clear and easy to follow. You can also ring directly for advice – the Skin Culture personnel have worked hard to create a very supportive environment (so much better than what most people experience with other companies).
- The accompanying Aftercare Body Kit is extremely good for sustaining your good work.
Cons:
- It won’t work for everyone (no product does). However, Skin Culture Facial System has averaged 15,ooo sales per year for more than 7 decades, and the reported cases of failure are very few indeed. My estimate based in case histories is that it is successful in at least 9 out of 10 instances. Compare that with products that have 50% or less success rate - and are still regarded as having ’statistical clinical significance’ – and you’ll see why I’m recommending this product. If you’re one of the unlucky one in ten, there’s a 60-day, no questions asked money back return guarantee. Simply return the containers (even if they are empty).
- During the second half of the 6-day treatment, the skin will be peeling – this means setting up your social/work arrangements to accommodate the less-than-glamorous look (but it will be worth it!!).
- Should not be used if you have extremely sensitive skin; should not be used if you have had an Accutane treatment – you should wait at least 6 months to use this product, after having Accutane.
